When we first got the house, the basement was a concrete hole in the ground. I designed a nice layout, we framed it, I wired it, we did all the tile work-- the rest we contracted out.
So for the last few years it's been a nice refuge, but something's been missing. Years ago I LJ'd parties, and I still had some of the equipment left over in some roadcases.
Time to put it to use!
In the front of the room there's a couple of mirrorballs hung in the corners by the soffits. I painted the black equipment white to make it blend in a little.
In the back of the room, two bargain-basement intelligent lights, One old Mobolazer unit with low-frequency scanners, and a conduit to release dense fog from the fogger right in front of the lightsources.
Not shown: Left of this is an old video game (MarbleMadness) and behind that is a Chauvet hazer.
The same with some fog rolling...
Behind the theater is the projection room. At the top is the projector. Below that is power distribution, one 15A 110VAC circuit and one dedicated 20A. Left is the DMX switcher that runs the mirrorball spots in a left/right/left/right program, right of that are the timer controls for the fogger and hazer, and below that is the DMX controller that drives the laser unit. It's plugged into the sound system to drive beam changes to the beat of the music. I machined an accordian-ing aluminum bracket to mount the controller and adjust its angle by hand.
That's Roger. He pulls double duty as the candy vendor and LJ. He's an awesome LJ. Visible above him is the fogger, to which I added a shunt conduit with a fan in it to give the fog burst some velocity.
So how does it all work?
